We are very pleased to announce that Rebuilding Together is partnering with Lowe’s Home Improvement to provide critical repairs for six homes in the Just Us neighborhood as part of Kickoff to Rebuild. Kickoff to Rebuild is an annual Super Bowl-sanctioned event hosted by Rebuilding Together, the leading national housing repair and community redevelopment nonprofit.
Volunteers from Lowe’s, local contractors and the community will join to perform repairs that include, but are not limited to: interior and exterior painting, bathroom floor and shower tile work, insulation for proper home weatherization, light landscaping and installation of handicap-accessible features. They will be joined by NFL sponsors and players, local elected officials and corporate representatives from Rebuilding Together, Lowe’s and numerous Atlanta-based organizations.
In addition to the home repairs occurring, students from Booker T. Washington High School will put on a parade demonstration for the neighborhood. Afterwards, the students will help RTA hand-deliver Lowe’s “Safe at Home” kits door-to-door. The kits, which are being provided to each home for free, will contain items such as smoke alarms, CO detectors, weatherization materials and handheld tool kits, will be designed to provide Just Us homeowners with access to localized resources.
The tremendous success of this project can be attributed to the many volunteers, homeowners and sponsors who are supporting this work. With their concerted efforts and involvement, we hope the 24th annual Kickoff to Rebuild will be the best one yet!
