Rebuilding Together Atlanta, Wells Fargo, Invest Atlanta, and the Department of City Planning have collaborated on a pilot program that seeks to make targeted improvements in the Campbellton Road Corridor.
The Campbellton Road corridor revitalization is a signature part of Atlanta Mayor Bottoms’ Southside Initiative which focuses on increasing business activity in Southside communities. This initiative aims to provide support to entrepreneurs and increase small business activity throughout the City of Atlanta.
Rebuilding Together Atlanta renovated three small businesses along Campbellton Road in an underserved area of the city through a $75,000 LIFT the Block grant, awarded as part of Wells Fargo’s NeighborhoodLIFT program. This special program supported much-needed renovation efforts for two restaurants and a hair salon.
- Senegambia Restaurant, which serves a variety of West African, Caribbean and American cuisine is located at 2180 Campbellton Road.
- Hott Chixx Wings ATL, which has been in business for 4 years. It is located at 2805 Campbellton Road.
- Getting A-Head Barbershop is located at 1985 Campbellton Road and has been in operation for more than 11 years.
Through the Campbellton Road Small Business Renovation Project, Rebuilding Together Atlanta provided critical-need renovations and new equipment to all three small businesses. Wells Fargo launched the renovation project in collaboration with Rebuilding Together Atlanta and Invest Atlanta, the economic development authority for the city of Atlanta. LIFT the Block programs like these promote neighborhood revitalization.
In addition to the small business renovations and equipment purchases to enable these small businesses to better serve their customers and operate more efficiently, Rebuilding Together Atlanta organized a volunteer day. Last week, Wells Fargo team members, as well as employees with Invest Atlanta and the city of Atlanta, volunteered in support of a much-needed renovation to the Senegambia Restaurant. Volunteers painted, cleaned and added shelving to the restaurant, among other needed improvements.
Rebuilding Together Atlanta is grateful to Wells Fargo and it’s NeighborhoodLIFT program for funding this important project – as well as other programs throughout the city – to boost local homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods.
